cAMPAIGNS

I’m passionate about Weston-super-Mare and have regularly been campaigning for change.

Bournville pharmacy

I’ve been leading the campaign to try and stop the closure of the Bournville pharmacy which is in one of the most deprived estates in the country.

I know pharmacies play a crucial role in providing quality healthcare services across the UK, including Weston-super-Mare and they are often the first point of contact for patients with health concerns, providing advice and treatment for common conditions as well as dispensing prescribed medicines.

The closure of our local Boots Pharmacy would not only disrupt these essential services but also put additional pressure on other healthcare providers in our community.

My petition received over 600 signatures and I have directly raised concerns with health authorities about this closure. The council are now working with the NHS to find an alternative pharmacy to take over the area.

We’ve also had media coverage.

This is positive progress but I’ll keep campaigning until we see a new pharmacy on the Bournville.

NHS Dentistry

The lack of access to NHS dentist appointments in Weston-super-Mare is outrageous, and I’ve been working hard to raise this issue to politicians and health bosses.

I’ve spoken to hundreds of residents about their concerns and launched a Weston-wide survey which has captured harrowing examples of the pain residents are going through and how no-one is now able to get access to NHS dentist appointments in the town.

I have spoken at North Somerset Council’s health overview and scrutiny panel, in front of health bosses, about this issue and have raised it with several politicians and through journalists.

Now that a general election has been called I am standing to be your member of parliament so I can take the NHS dentistry fight to the Houses of Parliament.

Bringing Skills

Tory Sewage

Using my decades of experience delivering skills, technology and investment across the UK I’ve been working with Weston College to get big tech companies like Google and Microsoft to Weston-super-Mare for a ‘Skills of the Future’ conference later this year where we’ll showcase our town and encourage high-skills, high wage jobs to be developed and situated here in Weston.

In addition I’ve been working with Weston College to deliver an inspiring Safer Internet Day that treated students to a series of compelling talks by renowned experts in the field.

Watch this space.

It’s criminal that the Tories continue to allow areas like Weston to have sewage dumped into our water by water companies.

I don’t think this is right and I’ve been campaigning for the Conservative party to put an end to this scandal.

I was recently on ITV highlighting this scandal and outlining how this impacts a tourist town like Weston-super-Mare.

I’ve also recently joined a local protest which continues to put pressure on the Government to take action and at this rally I continued to speak out against this travesty.

If I’m elected as the member of parliament for Weston-super-Mare I’ll continue to raise this issue.
